Women in business international forum in Syria attracts internationally renown state & business speakers and delegates - 5/1/2005
The Women in Business International Forum, which will host its latest conference in Damascus from 20-22 May 2005, will feature key note speakers from prominent political and business leaders. Confirmed speakers to-date include: HE Mrs Asma al-Assad, First Lady of Syria; HE Mrs Emine Erdogan, wife of the Prime Minister of Turkey; HE Mrs Benazir Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan; HE Dr Buthaina Shaaban, Syrian Minister of Expatriates; and British MP Christine McCafferty.
The specialist business panels will feature world renown experts, including Lord Bell, Chairman of Bell Pottinger Communications and former adviser to Margaret Thatcher; media mogul - Lord Alli of Norton, Chairman of Chorion Plc; Dr Amani Kandil, Chief Executive of the Arab NGO Network; Lady Brennan of Bibury; Oonagh Blackman, Political Editor of The Mirror newspaper from the UK; Johanna Crotty, Head of Marketing for BBC TV; Cerri Powell, Head of Exploration for Shell; Dr Kenneth Morse, CEO of the MIT Entrepreneurs School in USA; international businessman Wafic Saeed; Mr Richard Street Director, Youth Business International of The Prince’s Trust, and renown Consultant Cardiologist, Dr Fawaz Akhras.
More than three hundred businesswomen have already signed up for the Women in Business International Forum which will take place at the Omayyad Conference Palace situated in the heart of the Syrian capital.
This major conference will take place under the patronage of HE Mrs Asma al-Assad, First Lady of the Syrian Arab Republic, and is jointly organised by Women in Business International (WiB), MAWRED, the British Syrian Society and Eligo International.
“The forum, with business leaders from across Europe, the Middle East and other countries involved in such diverse business sectors such as oil and energy, health, media, marketing & branding and tourism, will provide an important platform for business and personal enhancement. This will give Syrian women the opportunity to be able to benchmark their enterprises against those of the world, and to illustrate to all participants the prominent and ever increasing role which Syrian women play today in business across the country and beyond,” says MAWRED.

The forum will attract businesswomen delegates from at least twenty countries, including from across Europe including the UK, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Iran, Pakistan, South Africa and the USA.
Uniquely, the Damascus Forum will feature a business-to-business exhibition for delegates to promote their products and services and forge international alliances and new business relationships. “The exhibition is over subscribed by some 100% “ said Mr Suleiman.
