Minister Announces Support for Women in Business Conference 2002 - 4/15/2002
Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean, Minister International Trade and Investment, announced Trade Partners UK’s continuing support of the Women in Business in the Arab World Conference in May 2002. Speaking at a unique briefing for women exporters in London she proclaimed that “By working with organisations such as “Women In Business In The Arab World” at their major London summer conference and their programme of events in the Middle East, we are helping to send positive and encouraging – but also honest - messages to women in business. I am delighted to confirm Trade Partners UK’s financial sponsorship of this summer’s “Women In Business” conference which will once again take place in the DTI’s conference centre in Victoria Street. This is a hugely worthwhile event and we are proud to continue as one of the main sponsors. I very much hope that I will be able play a role in what I am sure will be another great success.”
The Briefing confirmed the still huge potential that the Middle East offers British Companies. Visible Trade currently stands at £8billion and in total with invisible exports totals some £15billion with a projected growth of 5% this year.
The briefing chaired by Christine McCafferty MP ( Calder Valley) , the parliamentary Patron of Women in Business featured presentations from IOD, IBM, HSBC, Trade Partners UK, Hilal International and Flowcrete Plc. Presentations were not just on the Doing Business in the Middle East but reflected a major training element on Global Branding, E- Marketing and Knowledge Management.
Afterwards Christine McCafferty noted the success of the day and the initiative as a whole saying “ The ideas in Women in Business International continue to move from strength to strength. There is now a training programme offering the best of British expertise in training and management for women developing their businesses in the Middle East, which met with royal approval when Prince Andrew visited the training day in Kuwait recently. “
Women in Business in the Arab World is an Annual conference for Businesswomen from the UK and the Middle East that started life as a British Government initiative 5 years ago to promote bilateral trade between the UK and the Middle East through the growing economic community of Women. This successful business network also organises training in the Middle East encouraging women in business.
