SCCI holds talks with businesswomen council
Posted: Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Sharjah

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently organised its first meeting with the new executive committee of Sharjah Businesswomen Council (SBC).

“The new committee will focus on developing mechanisms and plans that will enable businesswomen to overcome the difficult period, and it will also identify strategies to facilitate the growth of businesses run by women and encourage them to participate in several other economic activities,” said Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa, Chairman of SCCI.

Ameera Abdel Rahim Bin Karam, head of SBC, said: “The Emiri decree gave us a great responsibility to work hard to realise the goals of the council and achieve success in other related initiatives.”

“Part of the vision of the Ruler of Sharjah is to motivate women in the emirate. In line of this, the establishment of the Sharjah Businesswomen Council serves as a platform for businesswomen in the emirate to reach new horizons,” she added.

“Women certainly have a very important role in the society, and have immense potential to contribute significantly to the economic development process and social stability of the country.”

The new committee approved its monthly regular meetings schedule, and identified its first assignments by developing the strategy and plan of the council for the next three years, the length of the committee's mandated term.

The committee concluded its meeting by announcing its recommendations; including developing the strategy and plan and the assignment of a special committee to identify the vision, mission and objectives of the Council, and setting this plan into implementation. – TradeArabia News Service
